The Secretariat of Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah Region is responsible for providing municipal services with the aim of developing and improving the region in urban, economic, and social aspects. In 1401H, a royal decree was issued to change the name of Al-Madinah Municipality to "Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah Secretariat," following a ministerial decision in 1398 that classified the municipality under the excellent category. The Secretariat undertakes multiple tasks such as maintaining cleanliness, combating public health pests, monitoring commercial activities and ensuring food safety, in addition to maintaining roads and lighting, setting building regulations, and supervising the provision of municipal services to the residents and visitors of Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah.
