The Riyadh Region Secretariat began in 1356 AH as a municipality with limited capabilities and simple tasks, managed at that time by Mr. Hassan Bukhari under the title "Municipality Director." In 1375 AH, a royal decree was issued by King Saud - may he rest in peace - to change the name of Riyadh Municipality to "Riyadh City Secretariat," with His Royal Highness Prince Fahd Al-Faisal assuming the position as its first mayor.
