About the company
The Dubai Sports Council was established on November 30, 2005, by a decree from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, "may God protect him." The Dubai Sports Council is the official government body responsible for developing and managing the sports sector in the Emirate of Dubai.
The Council oversees the operations of 7 government clubs in Dubai, 4 of which practice all sports, in addition to a chess club, a club for people of determination, and a marine sports club. It also supervises Dubai's sports sector, which includes hundreds of private clubs, academies, fitness centers, and sports training facilities.
His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has chaired the Council since 2020, leading it in managing and developing Dubai's sports sector, which hosts over 450 diverse events annually, including international and local sports championships. Since 2006, the Council has annually organized international conferences and seminars featuring elite global experts and professionals, aimed at developing the mindset and culture of professionalism in the sports sector, most notably the "Dubai International Sports Conference."
Additionally, the Council works on organizing many major global sports tournaments and events in collaboration with international and local sports institutions, such as the "Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup." The Dubai Sports Council strives to develop sports in the United Arab Emirates and worldwide by launching initiatives that promote excellence, creativity, and innovation in the sports sector, such as the "Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award" and the "Dubai Model for Sports Excellence."
